Our Techniques

patient laying on adjusting table with grace on their backWe use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our judgment and years of experience.

The primary adjusting techniques we use include:

  • SOT: Sacro Occipital Technique is a gentle chiropractic method that restores balance between the spine and skull. It involves pelvic blocking to relieve sciatica and correct pelvic distortion, along with cranial work and visceral manipulation to support the nervous system and organ function.
  • Instrument Adjusting (Including Activator Methods®): This is a system of spinal evaluation combined with a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers a consistent, low-force thrust.
  • Thompson: Thompson Terminal Point technique is a system of analysis and a special table that reduces the amount of energy needed to adjust your spine.
  • Diversified: After identifying which spinal bones have lost their normal motion or position, a specific manual thrust is administered to free up “stuck” joints.
  • Upper Cervical Toggle Recoil Technique: While lying on your side, we’ll use our hands to deliver a quick contact to the upper bones of your spine.
  • Webster: By releasing the stress on a pregnant woman’s pelvis, the uterus and surrounding ligaments relax, permitting the baby to turn naturally.
  • Functional Neurology: By examining the brain and nervous system, checking for imbalances in the vestibular, ocular, proprioceptive, cerebellar, and right and left hemispheres of the brain, the Doctor can determine an individuals weakness in areas and develop a treatment plan to improve health. This can help individuals with traumatic brain injuries, behavioral disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, vestibular and balance disorders, and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Extremity Adjusting: Dr. Lawson utilizes advanced extremity techniques from the Council on Extremity Adjusting. These techniques focus on global assessment of extremities including TMJ, rib, shoulder, upper and lower extremities, foot and gait problems, soft tissue methods, and rehabilitation.
  • NIMMO-Receptor Tonus Technique: Developed by Dr. Raymond Nimmo, D.C., this technique is a systematic approach which uses compression to remove myofascial trigger points which can give rise to subluxations.
